Counseling and Clinical Perspective
1. I work from a Christian Counseling Perspective and incorporate an eclectic approach to counseling to include Client Center-Therapy- as I believe the relationship between therapist and client is the catalyst that begins the process of healing and increases the motivation of the client to attain their God given destiny, purpose and potential. 2. I also incorporate Cognitive Behavior Therapy- to address the negative thought processes, faulty thinking and negative core beliefs an individual may struggle with and may interfere with the ability to achieve their greatest potential. This will be done using cognitive restructuring processes and exercises to help change negative core beliefs into positive ones. As a result, a client will experience improved self-esteem, greater self-confidence and a greater quality of life. 3. I also use Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy for the treatment of trauma and trauma related disorders that begins with the processing of traumatic events in a safe non-judgmental environment of trust and acceptance, the use of trauma sensitive interventions, Cognitive Behavioral interventions, attachment theory, and skill building in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness and mindfulness strategies. Such tools are taught to help clients manage the emotional stress and struggles they encounter day to day as they partake in the over-all healing process.
